Meet Jackie Mac The Melbourne Celebrant

Celebrancy combines my love of weddings, love stories, creative writing and public speaking. It couldn’t be a more natural fit for me.

Jackie Mac is a former wedding planner and a current love-enthusiast. I’ve organised events from food & wine festivals to sporting carnivals, but my most rewarding and exciting job of all was free-lance wedding planning. If there’s one thing I know, it’s weddings, and if there’s one thing I love to talk about, it’s love stories!

In September 2017 I became mummy to a gorgeous baby girl named Delilah Belle. I knew I wanted to continue working on weddings, but in a different capacity. Between naps and feedings I completed my Certificate IV in Celebrancy. Now I’m back in the industry I love, just behind the microphone this time!

YAY! For Jackie Mac the Celebrant

What is your style?

Fun, relaxed, light-hearted and colourful. I love to create ceremonies that involve moments of laughter, but I don’t allow that to overshadow the meaning or sincerity of the day. Each ceremony I write is unique to the couples I’m writing it for – like a snowflake, no two Jackie Mac weddings are the same!
What do you love about being a celebrant

Modern day wedding celebrant

There is no better feeling than the natural high you get driving home after a wedding, knowing you just played a part in one of the most important days in the life of a couple in love. It’s a truly exceptional and rewarding job.

Can you share a Career highlight?

I think for a lot of celebrants, myself included, the very first wedding you book always stands out as incredibly special. Having a couple vibe with your personality and style enough that they trust you to write their love story down for them is an extremely humbling and a remarkable honour.

Can you share a time things went wrong? Was there a recovery? How did you handle it?

In my years working weddings I have seen everything, from lost limos driving brides around in circles, to broken cake toppers and wilted flowers. There are very few ‘perfect’ weddings, no matter how meticulously you plan them. With a can-do attitude, a fully stocked emergency kit (I bring one with me to every wedding) and a good sense of humour, anything can be turned from a potential disaster, into a comical story you will be telling for years to come.

What are your top 3 favourite wedding locations & why do you love them?

A paddock or backyard – I love seeing how couples personalise a blank space, and backyard weddings always feel incredibly intimate.

Baxter Barn – It’s such a unique venue with an amazing atmosphere. Standing outside the barn under the fairy lights is magical!

Luna Park – It’s everything I’m about – fun, colour and laughter! My celebrant bucket list includes marrying a couple on a roller-coaster and on a carousel, so this venue is right up my alley!
