Meet Elise & Brodie

We had known each other for years through mutual friends. I’d had a crush on him quietly for most of that time but it wasn’t until his work mate at the time (my brother-in-law) pushed the subject of us being an item, turned out Brodie had felt the same… a few months later we had basically moved in together and have barely been apart since.

The proposal

We’d been together 6 years and we’d often discussed the idea of marriage but we had always struggled with the idea of a big wedding we wouldn’t enjoy. Finally whilst having a week off work at home he decided the time was right and casually told me: ‘I don’t want you to be my girlfriend anymore, I want you to be my wife.’
We then spent a few months working out exactly what we wanted from our wedding before choosing a ring and telling our family and friends our plans.

Your Wedding Day

We were married in November 2010 in Woodend at the most amazing location – Campaspe House. It was a 3-day celebration that included just our immediate family. It was the perfect location that provided beautiful gardens – which were in full bloom – for the ceremony and photos as well as a first-class restaurant and accommodation for all our guests. Best of all we had the whole place to ourselves. Being quite a stressful person I was surprised that the day was very relaxed, we all had breakfast and lunch together, the kids played in the pool and all our guests relaxed with a few drinks before the ceremony. There were many times we forgot that we were there for a wedding, just relaxed and enjoying each others company. We had been very realistic that things may and probably will go wrong, but not even the weather forecast of storms could dampen our day – although I’ve never been gladder the weatherman was wrong. The ceremony was emotional but with plenty of laughs. Our guests enjoyed some pre-reception drinks on the manor porch while Brodie and I had our photos taken around the grounds. We then dined in Campaspe House restaurant, and the food was so delicious we are still raving about it. After dessert, we moved to the lounges for some relaxing time with our family.
Words really can’t emphasise how our day was everything we had ever hope for and so much more… and most importantly perfect for us – exactly how every wedding should be!
