What is the difference between letterpress and thermography?

Put simply, one is pressed into the paper and the other is raised above it. Letterpress is just that - the letters are made of a raised material, ink is applied to the surface and it is then pressed into the paper. This gives a lovely embossed look to the print. Thermographic printing results in raised type. It involves the use of special inks and a heat process to produce a tactile finish.
