Gwendolynne Burkin's designs evoke notions of a bygone formal luxurious femininity; yet hint at a confidence and certain coolness. Her design approach interprets and explores tradition in a modern context, each collection evolving in it’s well versed blend of historical references generally from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Utilising rare imported luxury fabric and experimental cut, the line has a strong European flavour.

Gwendolynne’s relentless pursuit of unique beauty in her ready to wear designs has evolved to be in demand for the coolest contemporary brides who resist traditional looks and want to invest in a dress they can wear again. A designer for designers, Gwendolynne’s clients are generally style leaders themselves being in graphics, interior design, architecture, marketing, & producers.

The designer with over 25 years of experience has; Won Fashions on the Fields at the Dubai World Cup, Exhibited pieces in the Powerhouse Museum, Created for: International Nokia & Sony ad campaigns, The Australian Ballet, Contributed to the Salvador Dali on going collection in Milan. Showcased in Beijing, London, New York & Singapore.

German born, Adelaide raised, Melbourne based, Burkin completed a Fashion Design BA at R.M.I.T. Melbourne in 1991. At 14 Gwendolynne formally entered the trade as a fabric sales assistant where she took on various dress making jobs. At 15 she was a fashion presenter for a Channel 9 Kid’s show. At 19 she was the first graduate of her year to be employed.

Burkin accumulated almost a decade of professional experience working for both commercial, elite international designer & independent businesses as a pattern maker, designer & machinist both locally and overseas before starting her signature label in early1998.
