Modern Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party Ideas You Will Love
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Today’s bridal showers are much more than a few ladies sitting around someone’s living room playing awkward games, and bachelorette parties are more than a few women going to a bar for a few drinks and some embarrassing dares. Today’s Hens Night parties can be simple and elegant or lavish and extravagant.
Here are some ideas for modern bridal showers and bachelorette parties that you’ll love:

High Tea Party

The high tea party can include beautiful linens, a range of herbal teas (or fancy cocktails) , and a variety of delicious cakes, cookies, scones, and finger sandwiches.
The party can be hosted in someone’s home, park or in an elegant hotel. It can be as fancy as the bride likes, even including white glove service and hats.
Even if the party isn’t too fancy, a tea itself is quite enjoyable and will give the guests a chance to have great conversation and a good time.

Spa Day

We all need to treat ourselves from time to time, but as women, few of us get the chance to do it. A spay day would be welcome for both a bridal shower or a bachelorette party. The simple version of this shower could have all the women in attendance going to get a manicure and pedicure together while drinks and hors d’oeuvres are passed. The party can be as elaborate as budget allows, including going to a formal spa and enjoying massages, facials, aromatherapy, acupuncture or other services.

The spa day can even become a spa retreat, where the party members stay at a hotel or formal spa for the weekend. The organizer would need to find out what services everyone would like ahead of time or arrange with the spa to give the guests cart blanche and then pay for everyone at the end.

Wine Tasting

Wine tasting is another classy get together, and it’s a great option for those who aren’t too keen on tea. There are so many wines that even those who say they don’t like wine can find something they enjoy. A wine tasting is another flexible party idea since it can be hosted in someone’s home or in a restaurant. If there is a vineyard nearby, it would be great to have the party there.
The most elaborate options include going somewhere known for wines, like Napa Valley, and making a weekend out of it. If you are planning such a shower or bachelorette party, just make sure that guests know what’s going to be involved so that they can plan for it financially. No one wants to be the odd person out in the festivities.

Cooking Class or Retreat

Any chance to do something fun and be around good friends and family is a good choice for a bridal shower or bachelorette party. A cooking class or retreat can even give the bride-to-be some helpful tips on how to create great meals for her new husband. There are many options here. A private chef can come do a demonstration in someone’s home, or the whole gang can go to a restaurant or cooking school for a private class. Retreats are also available for the weekend or even the week. Most of these classes or retreats can be booked in themes, so you learn how to make a specific kind of food or meal.

An Outdoor Adventure

More and more brides are opting to throw out the “safe” choices and go against the grain when it comes to bridal showers. Everything from white water rafting to zip lines and ropes courses, getting out in the great outdoors is in vogue! Even camping trips and hiking trips have become popular as your group of gals gather around a roaring fire, sharing stories of the past and eating marshmellows over the fire. “Glamping” (that’s glamour camping for those who don’t know) is another hot trend for bridal parties. Upscale everything outdoors from fur lined sleeping bags to campfire caviar – all of the cushy comforts of home, right at your dirty fingertips!

We are talking lake cruises, riverboat crusies and even short ocean jaunts! Hitting the open water is not only relaxing but can be an unforgettable great time too. Enjoy a delicious seafood dinner, catching a few rays (and fish, if that’s your thing) on an oversized pontoon boat. Skiing and tubing behind these water vessels is a must as you hang with your best girls!
Riverboat cruises often include dinner AND a show, as you cruise for hours. Sunset casino cruises are generally found at most beaches and are more of the party crowd who like to get a little wild. Booze cruises as they are referred to, take you out on open water in the ocean (where it’s legal to gamble) and provide plenty of beverages and live music.

Special Trip

These days, bachelorette parties aren’t really just parties at all – they are trips. A trip to Las Vegas or a cruise to the Bahamas are popular options. The bride and her closest friends get to party and enjoy the trip of a lifetime to celebrate the impending wedding.
There is no limit on where the shower or bachelorette party can be held, other than the budget of those involved. Trips as far away as Italy have been planned in celebration of these special events. The trip can include general sightseeing, or it can include special wedding-related events like a dinner in honor of the bride, a spa day, or a get together with some of the traditional games and gift exchanges.
There are no limits to what can be planned for a bridal shower or bachelorette party these days. If you are hosting one this year, think outside the box to plan something really special. The bride will love it, and the guests won’t soon forget it. If the cost is too much, consider adding a few co-hosts to share the burden.
