Daniella and Matthew
How we Met
We met initially through a family friend at Establishment in Sydney & started dating in November of 2008. We both actually grew up & lived in Merrylands & our grandparent’s new each other, but we'd never met. As we got to know each other we realised his father’s side is from the same small province in Italy as my family & we have a lot of common family friends. His aunty is a celebrant who actually renewed my grandparent’s vows about 8 years ago, but we only found out by accident. There have been a lot of great coincidences!
The Proposal
I was asleep on Valentine’s Day 2010 & Matt woke me up saying he needed to ask me something. When I rolled over to look at him he was down on one knee with an open box containing a diamond ring. He asked me to marry him & I said yes! He later said he wanted to use the elements of surprise & shock to his advantage to get a yes & he thought startling me when I first woke up was the best chance to get it!
Our Day
We got married on the very special date of 10.10.10.
We had a day wedding, with the ceremony at 9am & a lunch reception to really take advantage of & enjoy the stunning water views of the Harbour at our reception venue.
I wore a silver & Swarovski crystal Princess style dress with a full tulle skirt & silver lining. It was custom made by Peretti in Leichhardt & made me look & feel like a true princess for the day! My bridesmaids wore silver & beaded full length vintage style pleated skirt silver gowns & looked beautiful. Matt & his groomsmen wore traditional English Morning Suits in Charcoal Grey & the flower girl & page boy wore miniature versions of the bride & groom's outfits.
Our cermony was at the very unique St John's College Chapel in Camperdown - hidden from the road but with a breathtaking red carpeted bell tower, entryway & staircase that leads up to a small chapel full of stained glass windows.
Our reception was at the stunning WatersEdge Restaurant in Walsh Bay overlooking the Harbour, under the Harbour Bridge & across from Luna Park. The venue was decked out completely by suppliers chosen by us - including 4 fabulous sparkling chandeliers from Elegant Drapings. On the tables were silver charger plates, satin tablecloths, crystal scatters, crystal encrusted disposable cameras, crystal wine stopper bombonierre & handmade Crystal, Chrome & Singapore Orchid centrepieces from Centrepiece by Design. The 160 guests enjoyed a 3 course lunch & were entertained by a live band - Soul Nights - featuring Barry Southgate from Australian Idol & they were also treated to an amazing chocolate fondue display by Fondue Lava.
It truly was perfect & the most amazing day of our lives!
